CUET (UG) – 2022 (Common University Entrance Test) Under the Ministry of Education, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will be used for admission to all Undergraduate programmes in all 45 central universities for the academic year 2022-23.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) would provide a common platform and equal possibilities to candidates from all across the country, particularly those from rural and other remote locations, and will aid in the development of greater connections with universities. Candidates would be able to cover a wide expanse and participate in the admissions process to numerous Central Universities by taking a single examination.

CUET is only for those who want to apply for a Bachelor’s degree and not their Master’s degree.

CUET (UG) – 2022 is a collection of tests in a variety of languages, domain-specific subjects, and general knowledge. Candidates may take one or more of the examinations given by CUET (UG) – 2022, depending on the requirements of the universities to which admission is requested.

It will be held in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, and Urdu.

Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu are among the languages spoken.

The exam will be conducted in 547 Indian cities and 13 locations outside of India.

Some of the Universities that are covered under CUET.

Some of the major central universities covered under CUET include Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Sikkim University, Mizoram University, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Central Univerity of Kerala, etc.

NTA’s Role

The NTA’s (National Testing Agency) role is limited to candidate registration, test administration, hosting of answer keys, inviting challenges, finalizing answer keys, producing and proclaiming results, and hosting Score Card.

Participating universities or organizations will create a merit list. Universities may undertake individual counseling based on the CUET (UG)-2022 score card given by NTA.

Is there an age limit to apply for the CUET(UG) examination?

There is no age limit to apply for the CUET exam, but certain universities would have their own age limit. Hence, it is advisable that you research about the degree requirements on the university’s website you wish to apply.

Boards marks will not play a significant role in CUET and will not be a criterion for admission; nonetheless, universities are allowed to choose the eligibility requirements for admission. For example, a university may maintain a minimum of 60% in 12th grade as an admission criterion.

The unified entrance test for all universities will put an end to ever-increasing cut-offs of all universities and will focus more on improving students’ critical thinking abilities rather than rote memorization. This will also put students from different boards on an equal footing; otherwise, because there is no uniformity in awarding 12th marks across different boards. There has  always been some kind of discrimination based on 12th marks. CUCET will also provide a single-window platform, streamlining admissions and making them more student-friendly by eliminating entrance tests for numerous universities with varying difficulty levels. It will also save candidates time, effort, and money on various entrance exam expenses.

Is CUET a New Concept ?

The CUET is not a brand-new exam. The exam, formerly known as CUCET ( Central University Common Entrance Test), was implemented in 2010 for admission to 1,500 seats in undergraduate, postgraduate, and integrated courses at seven central universities.
