IAS Kavitha started to learn classical dance when she was only four. She was a professional Bharatanatyam dancer for 20 years when she decided to pursue her dream to be an IAS officer. She used to learn dance steps from Guru Neela Krishnamurthy. When she was just 8 years she got the opportunity to perform at the Fifth World Tamil Conference Held in Chidambaram which was her first major performance. She gathered many congratulations and admirations for it.

She also learned Nattuvangam which is a rhythmic sound play of cymbals used to conduct and co-ordinates the choreography from the famous Guru Smt. Indira Rajan. She never tried to give up on anything. She has always strived towards perfection in her life. After becoming the IAS also, she gives dance classes to the children and learns herself whenever she finds time.

The brilliant IAS initially got fascinated and tempted towards IAS when she watched her father serving the nation selflessly. She desired to do the same for her country. When she was preparing for the examination, she flew to the USA and Canada to play lead roles of Annamayya in a critically acclaimed B recital choreographed by the renowned dancer Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. She has served as a Revenue Divisional Officer in Vellore. She has achieved many targets while being on the prestigious post.

She has been Assistant Commissioner of Chennai’s Civil Supplies. She has successfully shown her abilities and service in the Consumer Protection Department and the Joint Commissioner for Relief and Rehabilitation in the Tamil Nadu Road Sector Project, TNRSP. Her current posting is in Tamil Nadu State Tourism Development Corporate as a General Manager. Her overall growth shows her determination in herself to get what she thinks of.
