Indian Forest Services (IFoS) is a Civil Service Examination conducted through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Eligibility for Indian Forest Service Exam

A candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in the field of Science or Engineering.

The candidate’s bachelor’s degree in Science must at least include any one of the listed subjects: Zoology, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Geology, Botany, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, or Chemistry. Salary Offered during Training Period

Salary and compensation are provided to the IFoS officers during their training period as well. The salary of the training period will start as soon as the candidate has cleared the UPSC exam for the IFoS exams and enter LBSNAA, Mussoorie for the first phase known as Foundation Course.

The payment framework designed for the ultimate IFos Officers helps in deciding salaries to be given to the trainee officers. The trainee officer is granted privileges and incentives like that of the other IFoS officers, along with the pay.

Job Duty and Accountabilities of IFoS Officers

The various Job duty positions in Indian Forest Services are as follows:

Forest Principal Chief Conservator

This position is the highest position of any Indian Forest Service Officer. The vital accountability of the Forest’s Principal Chief Conservator is to manage the environment, wildlife, and forests related problems at higher levels in India. A supplementary Forest Chief Conservator is also appointed to assist the Principal Chief Conservator. They play an essential role in properly guiding the Forest’s Principal Chief Conservator.

Forest Deputy Conservator

Forest’s Deputy Conservator is also known as Divisional Officer of Forest. The priority of these conservators is to handle the environment and wildlife balance and proper functioning in forests.

The Forest Deputy Conservator has a Forest Assistant Conservator assigned under him. These officers look after all the work assigned by the higher officers related to any issues in the forest.

Range Officers

A Range Officer in the Forest Department is accountable for the appropriate management of the particular forest range assigned to them. These officers look after all the issues related to the area and the field allotted to them.
