UPSC Exam Preparation Plan
Focus on Engineering Topics
As you have seen the syllabus of the UPSC DCIO exam in the section above, you might have seen that the topics are from the engineering core. Learn all the basics of the engineering subjects so that you are able to answer them efficiently.
Make sure you study and remember any subject and topic you’re studying so you don’t lose marks on such areas. Without adequate preparation, you will most likely bring more uncertainty into the test room, resulting in a greater negative score that will erase all of your previous hard work.
Focus on Current Affairs
Many undergraduates make the error of scooping up current affairs books in the last weeks of the semester in the hopes of finishing them. The reality is that there will be an excess of knowledge, and your memory may not always be able to handle it. So, starting from now, devote a couple of hours a day to current events and make sure to update on a frequent basis.
Do not be concerned if you are unable to complete all current affairs. The same goes for map development: set aside a modest amount of time each day to work on it and keep refining.
Practice Many Test papers
Irrespective of your degree of preparation, be sure to pick up several test series booklets and try them. This will allow you to analyse your degree of preparation, your ability to complete on time, and the kind of simple errors you make, such as incorrectly interpreting the questions or alternatives, among other things.
Make an Active Routine
Keep in mind you study or practise with full attention throughout the two-time windows of 9 am to 12 pm and 2 am to 5 pm in the weeks coming up to the test. During such hours, your brain will become accustomed to being the most active.
Check the Venue
So that there are no uncertainties on exam day, you must personally visit the exam site once before the exam. You’ll also learn about the most efficient way of travelling. Also, if you intend on taking a cab, bear in mind that cabs will be in high demand, so give yourself a buffer of 10 to 15 minutes.
Exam Day Tip
Make sure you arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the planned start time. Your focus may be harmed by a last-minute hurry and anxiety to get to the location.
