Every year the Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Exam in three phases – prelims, mains and the final stage aka the interview round. To qualify the different phases of the CSE, candidates need to obtain the minimum mark set by the UPSC for each of the phases. That minimum mark is the cut-off. The UPSC mains, prelims and interview cut off comes out separately for different categories.

Now, there are certain factors that influence the minimum mark. Want to know what those are? Read the following points.

Factors that Determine the CSE Cut Off

There are mostly three factors that determine the minimum qualifying mark for each of the phases of the civil service examination. The factors are –

#What is the level of difficulty of the examination?

#How many vacancies are there?

#What is the number of exam candidates?

The commission decides the minimum qualifying mark after the completion of the exam process and candidates get to know the required minimum mark after the UPSC CSE result comes out.
