Make a Timetable

Solve Mock Papers Regularly
Make sure you solve a sufficient number of practice papers for both the Prelims and Mains; it is a must before taking the UPSC test for the first time. Regular evaluations will assist you in tracking your progress. You become aware of your flaws and can work around them. This will help you stay motivated.
Develop Answer Writing Skills
In an examination like the CSE mains, it is not just vital to study the syllabus; it is also important to know how to write the exam. No matter how much you study before the exam, how well you write the answers in 3 hours is what separates a topper from a failure. As a result, regular essay/answer writing practice is essential. Before the UPSC assesses you, evaluate yourself and submit proper analytical answers.
Plan Out
Planning is always the first stage toward success, followed by execution. It is possible that one will not follow through on the previously planned course of action. However, one must cultivate the practice of assessing the plan and, if necessary, making mid-course corrections. You will not be able to achieve your goal unless you have a suitable plan in place.
