The candidate should have graduated in any stream from a recognized UGC university or its equivalent. Candidates can also apply if they are in the final year and awaiting results for graduation, but they have to present the proof of passing later.

The candidates are also required to meet the physical standard requirements for a post in the Indian civil services. The maximum number of attempts for CSE is 6, which are extended for SCs, STs, OBCs, and persons with disabilities.
