Answer

Correct Option is Only 2

The 42nd Amendment Act of 1976 added Fundamental Duties to the Indian Constitution. They are dealt with Article 51A under Part-IV A of the Indian Constitution. There is a list of 11 Fundamental Duties to be obeyed by every Indian citizen. 1. The rights and duties of the citizens are correlative and inseparable, the original constitution contained only the fundamental rights and not the fundamental duties. Hence statement 1 is not correct. 2. The Fundamental Duties in the Indian Constitution are inspired by the Constitution of USSR. Notably, none of the Constitutions of major democratic countries like USA, Canada, France, Germany, Australia and so on specifically contains a list of duties of citizens. Japanese Constitution is, perhaps, the only democratic Constitution in the world which contains a list of duties of citizens. Hence statement 2 is correct.
