General Mental Ability: The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical ability, and data interpretation.General Science: The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension and appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science. Current Events of National & International Importance: The questions will test the candidates’ awareness of current events of national and international importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and interplay among nations. Indian Polity & Economy: The questions shall aim to test candidates’ knowledge of the Country’s political system and the Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India, regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators. History of India: The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This shall also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement. Indian & World Geography: The questions shall cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.
Part A: Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English totalling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability. Part B: Comprehension, précis writing, other communications/language skills – to be attempted in English only (Marks 120) – The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammer and other aspects of language testing

After you enroll for the course, we will be dispatchin your pendrive which will contain all the videos. The pendrive is to give you offline access to the course. Along with that you will be provided with online access as well. You will also be receiving an orietation call from the mentor assigned to you.

No, we at UPSC Pathshala do not provide notes or any physical material. This is to encourage you to make your own notes while watching the videos. You can share the same with the mentor who will assess them for you.
The videos have been compiled by referring many newspapers at a time. So you do not need to refer to newspaper completely if you are watching the videos. But we do recommend you read the editorials regurlarly.

You will be assigned a mentor, who will be the friend, philosopher and guide. He/she will hold your hand and push you towards the best possible preparation of UPSC exam. He/she will solve your doubts and make your preparation better and coherent.
"We have a very rigorous process of choosing the mentor. Our mentors are Ex- civil servants or people who have reached a certain stage in UPSC (At least interview stage). Majority of them are from top Universities like IITs, IIMs and from varied backgrounds like Engineering. Medicine, Humanities etc. The mentors are provided further training in terms of course content and guidance of students. This helps them guide the students well. We also monitor the mentor performance in various parameters.
Yes. You may choose the suitable time for your mentorship calls (twice a week), when the assigned mentor will call you. We will request you to be regular at that time every week. If you need some alterations in that, you may do that by informing your mentor and UPSC Pathshala.
