PCS full form goes by ‘Provincial Civil Service.’ Examination for PCS is held through Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). Government of Uttar Pradesh conscripts PCS officers from Group A or B officers to include these officers in the managerial branch of Uttar Pradesh state. It belongs amongst the three prestigious branches of feeder services. Eligibility for PCS Exam

UPPSC has revised their eligibility criteria most recently, and these revised criteria will be considered and followed till 2021. You must take a look into every eligibility criteria very precisely. PCS Exam Educational Qualification

Holding a Bachelor’s degree from an acknowledged university or any comparable qualification degree is the standard educational qualification required for PSC candidates. However, specific qualifications are mandatory if applying for certain specific posts of PCS officers. The following table specifies the special educational qualification required:

District Adult Officer The candidate graduated with a Commerce degree.
Statistical Officer Post-graduation with subjects like Mathematics, Mathematical or Agricultural Statistics
Food Safety Officer/ Designated Officer Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry or Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Oil Technology, Technology of food, Agricultural Science, Biotechnology, Veterinary Sciences, Dairy Technology, Biochemistry from any acknowledged University.
Child Development Project Officer Sociology, Home Science, Social Work undergraduate degree.
Controller Legal Measurement Assistant Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree or graduation with physics.

PCS Age Limit Criteria

For the general category, the minimum age required is 21 years and the maximum age extent is 40 years. The maximum age limit for all other reserved categories is of 45 years except for the physically challenged aspirants of the PSC in UP. Their maximum age extent is 55 years, which signifies that physically challenged people are given an age relaxation of about 15 years and that of 5 years is given to every other remaining reserved category.

PCS Syllabus 2021

PCS examinations are divided into objective patterns of two Prelim papers and descriptive patterns of eight Mains papers. PCS syllabus is somewhat similar to that of UPSC exams.

Social, Economical and physical geography of the whole world, especially India. Fundamental Mathematics till class tenth.
Indian Governance- Polity, Economy and Culture Comprehensive Hindi till class tenth
Development in social and economical sectors. Comprehensive Mental ability.

Candidates who clear the prelim exams have an opportunity to clear the mains, which consists of eight essays patterned papers. The first paper is based on Comprehensive Hindi and paper 2 includes descriptive answers which have three parts, and each topic of each section should be of 700 words. Paper 3,4,5 and 6 are based on comprehensive studies. Paper 7 and 8 are based on the subjects you choose from 34 listed subjects by UPPSC. The descriptive answers should be of 700 words. Other PCS Eligibility Criteria

Physical attributes are also one of the eligibility criteria after qualifying prelims and mains. Based on specific posts, the physical attributes criteria change. The physical attributes are required for the following posts:

  1. Range forest officer
  2. Excise Inspector etc.
  3. Dy. Superintendent of Police
  4. Assistant Conservator of Forest
  5. District Commandant Home Guards
  6. Superintendent of Jail

The fully informed and detailed physical attributes for specific posts are displayed on the official sites of UPPSC. The walking test is also conducted as an eligibility criterion. For male candidates it is necessary to cover a range of 25 kilometres in 4 hours and for female candidates it ranges about 15 kilometres in 4 hours. These attributes are, however, considered after or during the interview.

The age extent is from 21 to 40 years old for all the genders. Every reserved category is given age relaxation of 5 years, and physically challenged people are given age relaxation of 15 years.
