Arti completed her education at DAV Singrauli, her graduation at Jabalpur, and her MBA at Indore before zigzagging her way to Delhi for IAS preparation. So when I was told that female officers and some males too refused to go to the Naxal-affected region, I didn’t get scared. I was ready to break another notion,” says Dr Arti, a 2006 batch officer.

Talking About Prelims and Mains
She claims that the three years of graduation should provide a good foundation for exam preparation (because the IAS exam syllabus is similar to your UG, especially in the optional paper if your optional subject is the same as your graduation subjects).
According to IPS Arti, the only difference between the two exams is the nature of the questions (Mains is descriptive, Prelims is objective at UPSC or State PSCs), and if you have covered the entire syllabus, there should be no problems; thus, integrated taiyari (CS mains and Pre) is preferable to a differentiated strategy for the IAS exam. There is some planning required for the PT strategy, as non-serious aspirants must be weeded out (as there is negative marking).
