What Kind of Physical Training is Given to IPS Trainees at SVPNPA? A Scheduled Description

The preparation is comprehensive, with both physical training and classroom training being given equal priority. With Fall-in for PT at 5 am, a normal day starts. It was followed by Morning PT and two arms handling, or exercise, or shooting courses. At 8:45 am, these classes finish. After half an hour of breakfast and passing time, one has to hit 9:15 am for indoor lessons.

An officer trainee is taught IPC, CrPC, proof rules, numerous other acts, ethics, history of police, forensic science in indoor classes that run until lunchtime. For special problems such as LWE, juvenile justice, rape and Law Order concerns such as Kumbh Mela etc., special sessions are held to sensitise the officers.

Conferences and Uniforms are a Part of the IPS Officer Training

CBI, IB, FFRO, NIA, NSG officers are also invited to conferences so that the OTs can get a clear understanding of their jobs and prepare their careers. OTs fall-in again for evening sessions after lunchtime where either Drill, Shooting, Horse Riding or Swimming etc are arranged in two schools. Half an hour of OTs cooling-off games after this.

By the way, there are separate uniforms for each class and OTs have to hurry from one class to the other between changing uniforms that have been laid out for them by their followers. Formal meals or call-ins with seniors are scheduled in the evening. By the time the OTs collapse with exhausted bodies on their covers, their time is only ample to call a loved one at home and fall asleep.

Conclusion

Beyond the physical training, during training at SVPNPA and in the field during his or her service, the toughest thing for an IPS is to cultivate a neutral mentality towards others when upholding the law of the country. It is difficult for IPS officers to transcend caste, social, geographical and affinities when upholding the law.
