Update on Decisions

On 8 February, the Supreme Court requested the centre to consider granting UPSC Civil Services aspirants one-time age limit relaxation, including applicants who had exhausted their last attempt in the 2020 exam due to Covid 19. The case is to be heard in court again later.

The central government decided at the February 5 hearing to offer one more shot only to those contestants who participated in their last attempt at the 2020 review and are not age-barred. The centre was not in favour of offering relief for applicants who have met their 2021 test age cap. The Center has explained, however, that it is prepared that the candidate’s age limit, however, will not be waived.

Online applications for UPSC Civil Services IAS Prelims 2021 will end on 2 March 2021. The commission has agreed to hold UPSC IAS Prelims 2021 around the country on 27 June 2021. In due course, the admission cards for the same one will be uploaded. Candidates applying for the test should ensure that all qualifying criteria for entry to the examination are fulfilled.

The Preliminary Test shall consist of two objective form papers (multiple choice questions) and shall bear a limit of 400 marks in each of them.

The object of this examination is to act only as a screening test; the marks obtained in the preliminary examination by candidates who have been deemed eligible for admission to the main examination shall not be taken into account in order to assess their final order of merit.
