UPSC Engineering Services 2022 Notification

The official notices for the Indian Engineering Services (IES) examinations 2022 were announced on 23rd September 2021, by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The UPSC IES online application process has begun. Interested and eligible candidates should visit the official website to fill out an application form. The deadline for applications is October 12, 2021, at 6 p.m.

How to Apply?

#Step 1: Go to the official website.

#Step 2: Select ‘Online application for various exams’ from the drop-down menu.

#Step 3: On the new website, click on the IES test part 1 registration link.

#Step 4: Fill in the required information and credentials.

#Step 5: Submit your work and register for the second stage.

#Candidates should be aware that their registration will only be considered complete if they have submitted both parts of the registration form.

UPSC Engineering Services Exam Pattern

For recruitment to the Services Exam, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds a combined competitive examination. The examination consists of a written examination followed by a personality test interview. The following are the categories in which competent applicants are recruited:

Exam Pattern

The following procedure will be obeyed during the examination:

#Phase-I: Services (Phase-I/Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type Papers) for the selection of candidates for the Phase-II: Services (Phase-II/Main) Examination.

#Phase-II: Engineering Services (Phase-II/Main) Examination (Conventional Type Papers).

#Phase-III: Personality Test.

Criteria

Only those candidates who are pronounced qualified in the year’s Phase-I/Preliminary Examination by the Commission will be eligible for admission to the year’s Phase-II /Main Examination if they are otherwise eligible for admission to the Phase-II/Main Examination.

Candidates who are pronounced qualified for admission to the Stage-II/Main Examination will have their Phase-I/Preliminary Examination marks counted in establishing their final order of merit.

The number of candidates admitted to the Phase-II/Main Examination will be approximately six to seven times the total number of vacancies to be filled through this examination in the year.

Stage One: Preliminary Exam

The commission that is UPSC will decide on the minimum qualifying marks for each paper.

Only those candidates who pass this phase are allowed to take the Stage II examination.

Only those candidates who pass this step (i.e. Stage I + Stage II) are invited to move on to Stage III, the Personality Test (Interview).

Candidates that pass all three stages (Stage I, Stage II, and Stage III) will be placed on the ESE final list (Engineering Service Exam).

UPSC Engineering Services Syllabus 2022

The quality of the General Studies and Aptitude (Preliminary Stage-I Examination) papers will be comparable to that of an Engineering/Science Graduate. The standard of other disciplines’ papers will be similar to that of an Indian university’s Engineering Degree Examination. In none of the subjects will there be a practical examination.

#Current economic, social, and industrial development challenges of national and worldwide importance.

#Engineering aptitude, which includes analytical skills and logical reasoning.

#Engineering Fundamentals and Material Science.

#Engineering tools based on communication and information technologies (ICT), such as e-governance, networking, and technology-based education.

UPSC Engineering Services Salary

According to the recent 7th CPC, IES executives are entitled to a generous remuneration package. The IES has classified cities into three categories, and candidates will be paid according to the classification of the city in which they are assigned. The IES Entry-level Pay Scale will be determined by the locations available. The following are the three classes:

In-Hand Salary

Various deductions will be made from the salary. As a result, the IES officers’ take-home pay varies depending on their gross pay. The in-hand wage is further affected by the posting location and any applicable allowances. These are reductions will be made from the salary.
