IAS Ashima Mittal Biography

Ashima Mittal was born on the 30th of June 1992 and is presently 29 years old as of 2021. She is married now. Her posting is presently in Maharashtra. She is from Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Ashima has followed IIT Mumbai to pursue her Engineering and had also taken up employment before attempting the UPSC examination.

She had attempted the UPSC examination thrice. She did not fulfil the exam on her first attempt. In the second attempt, she got a rank of 328 and finally, in her third attempt, she got a rank of 12.

Ashima was simultaneously pursuing a master’s degree in Anthropology while preparing for the UPSC test. She worked as a multi-tasker and prepared for the CSE exam with the same dedication and hard work she did in pursuing her masters.

Ashima Mittal Educational Background

Ashima has been very good at academics since her school. Her parents made her give the NTSE exam when she was in 10th standard. When she successfully cleared the NTSE exam, her parents also encouraged her to give the KVPY examination. Ashima successfully cleared that examination too.

She then appeared for the JEE examination having a desire to get a seat in engineering. Ashima got selected in the JEE and obtained a civil engineering seat at IIT in Bombay. She lived there for 4 years and worked hard to accomplish her goal.

Later when she graduated in 2014, she won a gold medal at the IIT, Bombay for being an all-rounder in academics. She always had an interest in technology. Her social side always was focused on technology and engineering.

Ashima Mittal’s UPSC Journey

She had in her mind to give the Civil Services Exam but wasn’t sure about it. She wanted to work in the private sector for just an experience. She got a private job in the Eastern Young Company in Gurgaon.

She worked there for a few whiles and later realised that this is not what she wants to do. This is when she made up her mind to give the UPSC CSE examination.

She appeared for the CSE exam for the first time in 2015 and failed to obtain it. Everyone was confident that she could clear the UPSC in just the first attempt. Ashima herself was sure to pass it. Making it to the interview round, she failed the exam lacking 10 marks.

That was the time she realised she can’t win all the time. From her school, she always had confidence in clearing all examinations and she did too. But failed the CSE exam by just 10 marks.

She was depressed after the first attempt. She also lost her grandmother after a month of the examination. It was a very tough time for her to go through difficult circumstances. She later realised the important thing is to decide how to overcome the tough situation.

While preparing for the second attempt, Ashima was fully confident about clearing the UPSC CSE examination. She was ranked 382 in the country. Her family was happy to see her successful and achieve her motive.

She later planned to have one more attempt at the CSE examination as she was confident to score better this time. As the outcome of her hard work and determination, she was ranked 12 in the nation making her family proud.

While she was preparing for the UPSC exam she was pursuing her master’s in Anthropology. She had a great interest in the subject and ended up taking Anthropology as her optional subject.
