Renu Raj Biography
Renu Raj is from the Kottayam in Kerala. She did her schooling at St. Teresa’s Higher Secondary School in Changanassery, Kottayam. Her father is a retired government servant and her mother is a housewife. She did her graduation in M.B.B.S from Government Medical College at Kottayam. Her husband is also a doctor. He has done his specialization in Orthopedia.
Becoming an IAS Officer was her dream since childhood. While she was working as a surgeon her ambition of becoming an IAS officer become strong. As she was aware of the problems faced by the common people. She wanted to do something that will make their lives easier. And so began her journey and she started preparing for the UPSC exam. She was able to secure AIR 2 in 2014 in her very first attempt. Renu Raj’s optional subject was Malayalam Literature.
Dr. Renu Raj IAS Prepration
Renu started learning the basics during her internship by reading newspapers and journals seriously. Then slowly she started proper syllabus studies. She did this for six to seven months while doing her practice. After she was done building the basic foundation required for the exam she decided to prepare full time. During her full-time preparation, Renu was used to study for seven to eight hours a day. After mains, she again started her practice therefore she had to cut short her preparation to three to fours hour a day. She used to read a lot while travelling from work to home.
Renu Raj says the amount of time you put into your studies does not matter as much as the quality study was done in a short amount of time. According to her every aspirant should learn to build his or her own opinion on everything and should also learn the art of conveying them politely.
IAS Renu Raj’s Some Pointers for Aspiring Candidates
If candidates find themselves stuck at any concept then don’t get panicked. It will take some time to get in tune with what works. Give it some time and have patience you will eventually understand them.
Make a proper time table and stick to it as much as possible. One should prepare a time table that is achievable and realistic.

Practice as Much as You Can
Solving previous years question papers for answer writing is a must. Doing this can give an idea about how the papers are framed and boost your confidence. Without vigorous practice, you can’t even think of cracking the UPSC CSE exam.
