Muskan was just 22 years in age when she cleared the UPSC exam. She might be one of the youngest ever to become an IAS officer.

Muskan hails from a town called Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. She completed her high school from VR Senior Secondary School. She has been scoring high marks ever since she was a young. She had scored a massive 96% in her 12th grade. In college, she has done B. Com in SD College located in Chandigarh.

Becoming an IAS officer has been a childhood dream for Muskan. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a homemaker.


Muskan had a certain strategy for her exam. She used to take online and offline help from institutions to prepare for the civil services exam.

She had devoted around 7 to 8 hours every day in order to study for her exam. She set weekly targets that she would ensure to meet every time.

She kept taking many tests in order to know her abilities. This helped her understand her strengths and weaknesses.

She emphasised on note making for the exam. This allowed her to have information at bay and also helped her improve the quality of her revision.

Students cannot learn the skill of long answer writing overnight. Students must be able to learn the skill of answer writing slowly throughout.

She believes that advice from toppers should be understood and tried, but not completely relied on. Most of the advice they give is based on their needs and abilities. Look to follow some advice that you think is practical for yourself.

Selecting the correct optional subject is very important. The correct choice will lead to higher marks. Thus, think well and make a clear choice whilst choosing the correct optional.

Find the right balance between life and UPSC. UPSC requires a lot of dedication but it does not mean you need to alienate yourself from society in order to become an IAS officer.

As IAS Muskan Jindal suggests, finding the right balance between life and UPSC is very important. Many students believe that studying for the exam is all they have. This is a false motion.

Studying is not possible if students are not mentally and physically fit. They need to find the right balance between life and UPSC in order to achieve more. Studying for 8 hours a day does not guarantee you a spot in the exam. Look to work smart and hard. Enjoy the process and results will follow. Try not to compare yourself with any.

Current affair is an integral part of your UPSC exam. Reading current affairs daily is a must in order to get the best results.

Reading current affairs can be done in many ways. The most basic method is using the newspaper. If you are not interested in using newspapers, blogs, videos or even magazines can be used.

Current affairs should be a part of your timetable separately and give it equal importance. It is recommended to use all the different methods of reading for current affairs in order to stay focused on studying.

Practice Makes Perfect

The cliche line practice makes perfect is best suited here. The more you practice, the more you grow. Like already stated, learning to write answers for the exam cannot be learnt overnight. It is very important to practice daily and keep learning the skill regularly.

Practice will also help you assess your progress. This enables you to know your strengths and weaknesses well in advance and you can even create a growth chart in an overall sense for the exam.
