Indian Foreign Service Exam 2021 Eligibility Criteria
There are several nationality criteria that a candidate must meet before he/she can be eligible for the IAS post:
- Must be a citizen of India
- Can be a subject of Nepal
- Can be a subject of Bhutan
- Can be any Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 for permanent residency.
- Any immigrant from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam permanently settling in India.
The candidate must possess some basic skills before being able to sit for the IFS.

- Maximum 5 years for Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have given at least 5 years of their life to the military regime.
- Maximum 10 years for Blind, Deaf, Mute and Orthopaedically handicapped.

Indian Foreign Service Syllabus and Examination Pattern
The IFS exam consists of 3 parts mainly:
The Prelims comprise 2 papers. The two papers contain 200 marks each and are of 2 hours each. In addition, both the two tests are multiple-choice questions.
