K.M. Priyanka secured All India Rank 121 in the Union Public Service Commission examination 2020 and 1st rank in Hindi medium. She opted for the Hindi language as a medium in the Civil Service examination and cracked the Civil Service exam in her very first attempt. She is currently serving as an Indian Administrative Officer.

Indian Administrative Officer Priyanka is 28years old. She did her BA at the Government Girls Inter College, Gopeshwar. Later on moved to Dehradun, to pursue a degree in Law at DAV College. Her family couldn’t afford proper education facilities because of the financial crisis, she took tuition to earn extra money and use it for her education.

She studied on her own and prepared for the Civil Service exam without taking any help from others or any coaching centre. Even though she was burdened with many responsibilities as she had to pursue her law, prepare for the UPSC exam and take care of the family at the same time.

Interview

In the interview Priyanka was asked to tell the audience about her village, so she said,

“You have to trek 15 km (from Dewal, the nearest point with road connectivity) to reach Rampur.”

In the village, there are 70 to 80 families who reside and the basic necessities are all cut off. She mentioned the occasions that formed her. She told the incident of a person who had once fallen from a tree and was bleeding extensively.

She said,

“No ambulances can go there. Some of the villagers carried him on their shoulders, down 15 km, to a hospital. But he died before they could get him there.”

She further added,

“The hardships made me stronger. I have seen a lot in life. When things got tough, I’d often feel like giving up. But I’d pull myself up each time. Now I know that I can make use of the platform I have achieved to make things better for others like me.”

UPSC Strategy

You need to follow an effective strategy during your preparation for the Union Public Service Commission examination for better results. Start with easy subjects or the subjects which you have a better understanding of. It will motivate you to move forward with your preparation. Practise test papers to understand the pattern of the exam.

Be up to date with all the current affairs which are going on, in and around the nation and globally. Revision is a must. Make notes after every topic, manage your time properly and try to stay calm and positive. Don’t drain your mental health. Health is more important than exams.
